The Evolution of RediDraft

A Legacy of Innovation in Document Assembly - From FastDraft's pioneering vision in 1991 to today's cutting-edge RediDraft™.

"In 1991, two partners at an Atlanta law firm had a vision: to revolutionize the way they created and managed estate planning documents."

  • Early 1990s

    The FastDraft Vision

A groundbreaking document assembly application was born, integrated with Corel's WordPerfect word processor. Using RTF documents to store fragments that could be reassembled in any order—complete with variable completion and replacement—FastDraft quickly became an indispensable tool for the founders' law firm and they realized it could be a valuable tool for other law firms.

  • 1993

    From Vision to Market Leader

Interactive Professional Software was established to take FastDraft beyond its origins, led by Jan (Malone) DeSalvo as CEO. With a clear vision for innovation, Jan guided the company to enhance FastDraft, adding support for both WordPerfect and Microsoft Word, along with a basic network version. Her leadership secured trademark approval and positioned FastDraft as a versatile tool for a growing audience.

  • June 1996

    Technical Excellence Joins Vision

Tim Owensby joined as CTO, bringing his technical expertise to complement Jan's strategic direction. Together, their collaboration fueled significant advancements, enabling FastDraft to expand into new markets and applications. The synergy of Jan's vision and Tim's technical knowledge opened doors to innovative uses of FastDraft.

  • Early 2000s

    Breaking New Ground

A standout example of FastDraft's adaptability came when the software powered an automated voice capture system for a large medical examiner's office in California. This application highlighted FastDraft's versatility, allowing it to transcribe and assemble documents efficiently in a high-stakes environment—proof of its adaptability under Jan and Tim's leadership.

  • 2000

    A New Chapter: Valeo Software

Interactive Professional Software was rebranded as Valeo Software, LLC, still under Jan DeSalvo's stewardship. The company continued to thrive until 2004, when Valeo ceased operations. The software proved remarkably stable, requiring minimal support and demonstrating the solid foundation of its original design.

  • 2004

    Trusted Stewardship

When Valeo ceased operations, the source code and intellectual property were handed over to Tim Owensby, who took on the responsibility of supporting FastDraft's loyal users. Under Tim's care, FastDraft remained remarkably stable, requiring only a key bug fix to ensure compatibility with Windows XP. His technical stewardship kept the software reliable as technology evolved.

  • August 2010

Rising to the Challenge: The Birth of RediDraft

By 2010, with Windows XP nearing its end, FastDraft's user base urged Tim to modernize the software. Facing an abandoned trademark now owned by another entity, he rewrote the application using contemporary technologies and relaunched it as RediDraft in August 2010. This cloud-supported, desktop-client version ensured continuity for users on Windows 7.

  • 2010-2018

A Steady Companion with a Loyal Following

RediDraft retained its reputation for dependability, with minor updates through 2018. Many users still affectionately called it FastDraft, a nod to its enduring legacy. The application remained remarkably stable with no major updates needed since 2018.

  • September 2025
