Hosted by us, drafted on your machine

There is an objection we hear from careful firms, and it deserves a straight answer rather than a reassurance: we are not going to type our clients' information into somebody else's website. Fair enough. So SaaS Web accepts the RediDraft™ desktop client, and when you work that way, you don't.

The difference is architectural, not a setting. A browser has to send your answers to the server, because the server is what assembles the document. The desktop client doesn't: it asks the server which pieces of the library it needs, and then builds the document on your own workstation. The names, the dates, the dispositions, the finished draft — none of it is transmitted to us, because none of it has to be. What lives on our servers is your firm's drafting library: the Form Volumes and language your firm has built.

The desktop client keeps working when the connection doesn't, too. Pin the libraries you rely on and you carry an encrypted, self-contained copy on your machine, enough to read and assemble documents with no network at all, for a window we set on your account. Editing library content still requires a connection, deliberately: there is one authoritative copy of your firm's library, on the server, and nothing is ever silently merged.

Everyone gets both. The desktop client isn't a premium tier or an add-on; it is included with every seat, and the two clients can be mixed freely inside the same firm. It is also entirely optional: a firm that would rather install nothing on any workstation loses no functionality by staying in the browser. If you do install it, the Windows build isn't code signed and produces a one-time warning; the macOS build is signed. Our security page explains our reasoning and the checksums we publish instead.

Who it's for

Teams of every size that want document automation without owning any infrastructure: the fastest path from signup to assembled documents. Small teams of up to five can license it per seat, and a solo with a paralegal is up and running for less than $1,000 in year one. Firms that want a native application rather than a browser get one here, at no extra cost, and firms whose real concern is client confidentiality should look closely at the desktop client above, which keeps client data off our servers entirely. If your firm requires that the library itself sit on hardware you control, the Private Web edition is the same experience on your own servers. And starting here never locks you in: Site License firms can migrate from SaaS Web to Private Web, or back, at any time, with our help and at no cost.
